Supercamp 2010 - Weekend of April 25!

We will be wrapping at the Franklin Park Mall again this year - watch for us Christmas Week!

What is supercamp?

Supercamp is a unique weekend camping experience for youth ages 9 – 13.  It has been going strong since 1975.

Campers can expect to have fun, make new friends, learn more about themselves and others in a rustic outdoor setting.

Activities include nature walks, win-win games, teambuilding, dancing, singing, crafts, campfire, creative dramatics, pride group sessions and more.

Supercamp is run by a volunteer committee of adults, who hire qualified 14-and-older counselors.

We offer this program to youth for one reason: for kids to truly have FUN!

By this we mean we want kids to feel needed and accepted in a group; to give them a sense of importance, and the opportunity for achievement.

Our goal is to enhance the self concept of each camper by:
  •  Introducing each youth to experiences that encourage making new friends

  • Providing group activities which promote the development of group participation, cooperation, and citizenship

  • Offering sessions such as nature, drama, dance, outdoor recreation, folk games, team challenge, singing, canoing, archery, crafts, and Pride Sessions, to meet the needs of each camper, and by

  • Providing a highly qualified, well-trained (not to mention fun-loving) adult and counselor staff

Can I earn my way to Supercamp?

Yes!  There is a great way to earn your way to camp. By selling 80 quilt raffle tickets (quilt given away during closing circle), you can make the money to pay your way!  Click on "work scholarship" on the Supercamp Restration page for more information.

What happens when I get there?

You'll meet your counselors, find new friends, and try new things (and, well, just have FUN!!).  You'll stay in a cabin with your cabin counselors and small family group the whole weekend. Not that you'll spend much time in your cabin!

From family-style meals in the dining hall, to morning sessions featuring Nature, Games, Dancing, Stomp, and Team Challenge, to the New Games Festival and fun-filled themed Evening Programs, there's never a dull moment.

(But if you do find yourself with a free moment, try the mid-campus mini golf!)

How to Get There

 How can I help Supercamp?

Supercamp is run by a committee of volunteers.  Our camp fee does not cover all our costs.  We can use all the help we can get!

Our biggest needs of in-kind donations are brochure printing (we print simple 1-color flyers to reach 6000 children) and food for counselor training workshops.  Contact supercamp at comcast dot net or any committee member for more information on how to help.

Also: we are on our way to official 501(C3) designation!
